Hale Ohia Log Cabin

Hawaiian Lifestyle awaits you in this 122 year old notched ohia log cabin located one mile from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, home of Madam Pele, the fire goddess, and Mata, the love goddess.

This rustic, charming hideaway is set in a lush, native tropical rain forest among tree ferns, ginger, purple princess flowers and tall sugi pines.

Built as a honeymoon cabin, Hale Ohia was one of the first homes in this historic area. Nowadays, it is fully equipped with modern conveniences and offers a full kitchen and bath, wifi, television, cable, VCR, cassette player and telephone.

The double winding staircase leads to sleeping space for four, on a king and double bed. Two additional guests can sleep
downstairs by the fire on the two sofas. Years ago, cowboys drove cattle through here and used the cabin as their rest stop. Rumor has it that this may have also been a speakeasy during prohibition.

Warm yourself by the wood stove and let your mind wonder at the tales the log walls could tell. Cozy and comfortable, a stay at the log cabin at Hale Ohia is an experience never to be forgotten.
